Drawing Suffolk  Exhibition

Saturday 14th October 2017.

11am to 5 pm Exhibition continues to Saturday 21st, 11am - 4pm.

An exhibition featuring some of Suffolk’s best loved artists. From John Constable to Harry Becker many well-known names will be represented by pencil and chalk drawings as well as a selection of watercolours.

The subjects include Willy Lott’s Cottage at East Bergholt by Constable, Waldringfield by Leonard Squirrell, Snape by Cavendish Morton and Blythburgh by Wesson. Many sketches of the Suffolk countryside and animals will appear, the most famous being a small Munnings pencil sketch of a horse balanced by an enormous picture of sheep by Harry Becker, drawn on stone for a lithograph.

This work is a very rare survivor of a limited issue of works commissioned by London Transport to be posted up on London’s Underground stations during the First World War.

The Exhibition, at the East Anglian Traditional Art Centre on the Hill in Wickham Market near the car parks, opens on Saturday 14th October at 11 am, and continues Monday 16th to Saturday 21st from 11 am – 4 pm.

Saturday the 21st is the day of Wickham Market’s ‘Big Draw’ event which boasts an Art Show, Drawing for All of subjects round the Village centre and a craft and animation show. All the Family will be welcome 10am- 4 pm.
