Projects

A number of exciting projects are planned, and as they become actively worked upon they will be listed on our Calendar page. You are invited to become part of the research or planning team, please get in touch.

We have a special interest in the Suffolk Artists, ranging from John Constable, Thomas Churchyard and George Thomas Rope, and we have undertaken considerable original research which has been published. With the digital and internet publishing age has come an opportunity to publish more specialised material which would not have warranted a full print run.

John Day has studied the paintings of the Norwich School for nearly fifty years, and is presently researching the works of John Crome and looking at their relationship with the later Norwich School artists' work. This is in preparation for the 2021 John Crome Bicentenary, which we hope will match the 1921 event in Norwich which gave the School considerable publicity.

Currently we have this research project underway, and invite  interested parties to contact us with a view to assembling a team to investigate the following aspects of Crome’s life and paintings:

- Record and collate known works in the UK and overseas, via books and the internet

- Build a high definition digital and x-ray reference archive to be made publicly available

We will award the Crome Prize annually for a student's original research which relates to John Crome or the Norwich School. This will be launched in the Autumn of 2017 and applications are welcome from all students.
