VIEWS OF OLD IPSWICH  &  SUFFOLK

Friday March 23rd until March 31st 2018

An exhibition that featured some of Suffolk’s best loved artists, visitors could see Suffolk and old Ipswich as it used to be.

The history of Ipswich and its evolution to the present day thriving town with impressive parks, docklands and University makes an interesting study. From mediaeval times which shaped some of the present-day streets to the post Second World War modernist buildings the variety is a feature, Ipswich has never been ‘frozen in time’ in any particular period.

The current Exhibition at the East Anglian Traditional Art Centre in Wickham Market features original paintings of the Town and its environs from the period 1780 to 1900. Important buildings were often only standing in the Town centre for a decade or two before being replaced with a more modern concept, and fortunately there were artists there to record them.

Most of the works are for sale, the Art Centre retains a core Collection but duplicates and works from other sources will be available. Full details and emailed listings are available on request from john@eatac.co.uk. or telephone 01728 747050.
